This animated video was developed for an upper-division workshop focused on rhythm in motion design. The project explores how visual pacing, timing, and movement can be aligned to create a cohesive rhythmic experience. This video emphasizes structured repetition, variation, and flow while utilizing motion principles to reinforce the theme of rhythm.
The project began with research into how other designers approached animation and rhythm. From there, ideas were sketched out and developed into a storyboard that mapped key rhythmic patterns and visual directions: moving lines paired with lyric timing, camera pushes into depth to emphasize beats, wavy sequences for flow, and repeated circles for variation and emphasis. Once the storyboard was complete, animation work in After Effects began, with experimentation across different VFX and motion techniques until the pacing felt right. At 00:00:36:00, a 3D object was introduced and animated to enhance variation. The final piece was rendered in 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps, resulting in a completed duration of 00:01:09:02.
